Adele

AdeleAdele Mara (April 28, 1923 until May 7 in 2010), was an American actor, singer and dancer who was featured in films during the 1940s and 1950s and on television during the 1950s and 1960s and then later. Adele St. Mara was her name professionally. She won a contract from Columbia Pictures[citation required.She also gained experience in the studio's comedy shorts and "B" features. Later, she changed her name to Adele Mara. One of Mara's early roles was as a receptionist for the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara and Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she is the lead female role, as the sister of an escapee and wrongfully found guilty convict. The film was released by Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was ended. The studio specialized in films based on westerns and outdoor adventures. [citation needed] She starred in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch which starred John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima where John Agar is the love interestis played by John Wayne, California Passage, and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
